Check this out--I've added a new blog to our blog list. It's Mr. Russoniello's third grade class--your pen pals! We're going to attempt some cross-grade level interaction and technology. We've posted a topic on his blog--and you ALL get to respond to it.
Audience is everything--your responses will be read by third graders and their PARENTS. Your responses need to reflect that audience. Unfortunately even the most clever innuendo, no matter how brilliant or classy, will not be appropriate.
This is is your chance to really mentor and model your incredible English composition skills for an audience that will be influenced by what you write. For this reason, use spell check, capitals, punctuation--all that fancy stuff. My blog window has spell check available--the comment window does not. Please COPY and PASTE your responses from Word into the comment box so you can ensure the quality of your writing. It also never hurts to reread and revise on your own (like what you're doing with your Supersize Me essays). Also be sure to indicate To: and From: within comment
BTW--Revised drafts of rhetorical analysis, 2-3 pages, typed, double-space, MLA format due on Moday, March 2. Extra Credit field trip to Global Water facility on Wednesday, March 4 at 3:00 pm--transportation on your own

Use your new found analytical ability to "critically read" some preferred form of digital media: film, anime, web, or video game. Your critical response should be 2-3 pages in length. Still consider basic rhetorical elements (message, purpose, audience, etc.) when evaluating your source.

We need to find grants to apply for to help fund our green initiative. We will be able to get recylcing bins, but it turns out solar panels cost quite a bit :) Do a google search for grants related to education and environment/sustainability. post the links you find under "Sustainability" comments.

- I graduated in 1997 from Barry Goldwater High School. I attended Arizona State University Barret Honors College on a nearly full-ride scholarship, attaining concurrent degrees in English and History. I completed a graduate degree from ASU in Curriculum Design & Instruction. I have taught at MHS for 8 years, and I have also taught political science, education, and English classes for CAC. If you don't remember your pen pal, posy anyway. Be sure to include YOUR name so they can identify you...

i like the pizza ice cream idea and chocolate with oreos.
I don't think I ever had a pen pal, but I still left my name and delicious ice cream.

ABSOLUTELY--Mr. R will continue to add prompts. Respond when you can. It's so cute--the little kids will mimic your writing, but add their own ideas!
haha, its actually kinda fun, i like doing stuff like this. i may not do much of my work, but i will totally do this...sorry...:(
hmmmm...Ice cream!!! i like chocolate chip cookie dough, with lots of sprinkles. But nothings better than more cookie right? how about we throw in some oreo's, macedamien nut (cookies), triple fudge chunk chocolate cookies, with some whiped cream and a cherry on top! MMMMMMM sounds like a party! lol
